Shelley Stockwell, of the International Hypnosis Federation, FAKE PhD *UPDATED*

Shelley Stockwell-Nicholas, president, owner, member, and founder of the International Hypnosis Federation in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Shelley liberally throws around the title PhD and Dr. Shelly for herself. Yet, she is entirely elusive as to the from where and in what, which is typical of people claiming to have FAKE PhD's in this field.

She is the author of "How to Put a Smile on Your face and $$ In Your Pocket." Could that have something to do with fabricating a fake doctorate and duping gullible hypnotists into joining your organization?

Shelley is considered to be an "expert" and will be presenting at Scott Sandland's HypnoThoughts Live.

UPDATE
***************************

Shelley "the FAKE PhD" Stockwell-Nicholas sent us a lovely email. Here it is:

Dear Lady Who Falsely Purports To Have A PhD,

It's not slander if it's true.

Unless you confirm that you have earned a legitimate PhD, this information will remain here for eternity.

Sincerely,
The Truth

  1. It looks like she states on Linked in she received a PhD in Philosophy and Psychology from a very iffy looking place that has a Wix hosted website, with a view counter at the bottom in the low 25,000's, mentions no tuition costs and looks very fake since all of there two dozen faculty are all PhD in various things and all the course info mentions getting credits from life experience, workshops and other things you have done elsewhere, courses can be taken completely from your own home, and you get a mentor to assist you.

The only thing legitimately educational looking about this school is their .edu domain name, which isn't that hard to get apparently.

  2. Oh and this blurb on their website makes them sound so much more legit lol

    Accreditation

INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES IS NOT ACCREDITED BY AN ACCREDITING AGENCY RECOGNIZED BY THE UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF EDUCATION. Note: In the United States, many licensing authorities require accredited degrees as the basis for eligibility for licensing. In some cases, accredited colleges may not accept for transfer, courses and degrees completed at unaccredited colleges, and some employers may require an accredited degree as a basis for eligibility for employment.

  3. I find it appalling that someone who seems to be respected in her field, not only has what looks very much like a fake degree, but is calling herself a Dr. when in the Hypnotherapy setting it is very unethical to use the Dr. title unless you actually have a medical degree of some kind, not a philosophy degree from a sketchy fake school, otherwise people falsely assume that you are a real medical doctor being the field you are in is health related.
